Six state scrutinizing Aetna prior-authorization practices

Insurance commissioners are reacting to news that a former medical director did not review patient medical records when deciding whether to pay for treatment.  He looked at the information the nurse provided and not the actual medical record.  He stated that Aetna trained him to make pr-authorization decisions this way.

In Santa Ana, CA Superior Court last week, Aetna’s lawyers said a total of six state regulators are looking into the insurance company according to court transcripts.
