Dear IARS Members:
The International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS) Board of Directors are pleased to announce that Marie E. Brown joined us as Interim Executive Director on July 6.
As part of this leadership transition, Andre Williams is no longer with the IARS, though we appreciate his contributions to the Society during his tenure as Executive Director.
Marie is a mission-driven executive with more than 20 years of leadership experience spanning nonprofit organizations, corporate finance, public policy, communications, and government service. She most recently served as Director of Finance at Fearless, a Baltimore-based digital services firm, where she helped scale the organization from $50 million to $100 million in revenue. Prior to that, she held senior leadership roles at Thread, a Baltimore-based nonprofit, served as a Director on the National Security Council under two Administrations, advised the U.S. Executive Director on the Board of the World Bank, and began her career as an International Economist at the U.S. Treasury Department.
The Board is confident that Marie’s leadership and operational expertise will provide stability and momentum as IARS continues to advance its mission of generating and disseminating transformative breakthroughs in anesthesiology and perioperative medicine while supporting scientists around the world.
Please join us in welcoming Marie to the IARS global community. We look forward to the expertise and perspective she brings as we continue working together to advance anesthesiology research, education, and patient care globally.
The Board will conduct a comprehensive search for a permanent Executive Director, which is expected to begin later this year. We are committed to identifying a leader who will build on the Society’s strong foundation and guide IARS into its next chapter of growth and impact.
