20 States with Top Physician Retention

This is not specific for our speciality but I wanted it to share with our readers since we dependent on referring physicians.

The following states have the most physicians retained from undergraduate and graduate medical education, combined.

These percentages reflect the number of physicians who — out of a pool of physicians who graduated from medical school or osteopathic school and completed their GME in a state — are still active in that state.

Data is from the AMA Physician Masterfile and was presented in the Association of American Medical Colleges’ 2013 State Physician Workforce Data Book.

The national average is 66.6 percent, while the state median is 68.1 percent.

6. Florida — 77.8 percent
