The Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine in Huntington, W.Va., has received initial accreditation to create a new anesthesiology residency program.
The program will provide clinical training in anesthesiology, including perioperative medicine, critical care, airway management, pain control and operating room management, according to a Sept. 18 news release from the university.
Sixteen resident physicians in the four-year program will rotate among three hospitals and medical centers.
The first cohort of residents will begin July 1, 2026.
The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education provided the initial accreditation for the program, the release said.
