A schedule designed for your life
The call schedule is structured to provide significant time away from the hospital.
For three weeks each month, there is no call. During the fourth week, the anesthesiologist covers call Monday through Thursday from 7:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. There is no daytime operating-room assignment during the call week.
During regular non-call weeks, you may leave when your cases are completed. This predictable schedule offers substantial personal time and makes it possible to enjoy your career without sacrificing your life outside the hospital.
Practice environment
The anesthesia department operates as a care-team practice covering four operating rooms. The anesthesiologist will medically direct CRNAs while personally performing anesthesia in approximately 30% of cases.
The hospital averages approximately:
• 262 surgical cases per month
• 20 labor patients per month
• 2,500 to 3,000 surgical cases annually
The case mix consists primarily of routine bread-and-butter anesthesia, including general, orthopedic, outpatient, regional, and obstetric anesthesia.
There are no cardiac cases, major trauma cases, or complex neurosurgical cases.
The current anesthesia team includes full-time and part-time anesthesiologists, CRNAs, and an anesthesia technician. The additional anesthesiologist is needed because of increased surgical volume.
