Media highlights updated ASA, APSF recommendations for elective surgery after COVID-19
In June, Becker’s and OR Manager reported on guidance from ASA and the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation (APSF) on the timing of elective surgery and anesthesia after COVID-19 infection.
In July, an Outpatient Surgery Magazine article featured ASA President Michael W. Champeau, MD, FAAP, FASA, discussing the guidance. The article emphasized the importance of a two-week waiting period for elective surgery following COVID-19 infection in order to give anesthesiologists and surgeons enough time to assess patient risk.
